One Song - An Evening of Sema (Sufi Whirling)

Join us for a special community event with Mete Horzum, a Semazen (Whirling Dervish) from Konya, Turkey. 

In this dynamic and exciting evening, Mete will offer a teaching on Sufism and  demonstrate the Sema (Whirling) Ritual, breaking down each step of "turning toward the truth." 

Mete is a part of the Mevlevi Sufi Order, followers of the great mystic poet Jelaluddin Rumi.  He began his studies and training in Sema at a very young age, and was granted permission in the ritual by Mevlevi Sheikh Celalettin Loras. 

Help us welcome him on his first visit to New York.
